In hindsight, we shared a feeling of longing for an escape, getting away from the known, and immersing ourselves into something completely different... which is scary and exciting at the same time. It mirrors the band both in a literary sense, as well as the general mood during the writing process.\u003c\/em\u003e“\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThe band recorded the album in May 2018 in Norrköping, Sweden, while camping out in the Swedish woods nearby. Much like label mates LLNN or Briqueville, \u003cstrong\u003eSÂVER\u003c\/strong\u003e's sound is characterized by a strong component of apocalyptic synths and textural electronics hovering above the base of heavy guitars and bass – a mélange that works incredibly well, and has been becoming increasingly popular across the globe of heavy music lately.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eWhile listening to „They Came With Sunlight“, it's surprising to learn that \u003cstrong\u003eSÂVER \u003c\/strong\u003eare a relatively new band. The album surely does not sound at all like a debut album: the transitions are too well-crafted, the pace and vibe too dense and consequent, and a great tranquility lies within or beneath the heaviness, something that is rarely accomplished by young bands.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eBut the members of \u003cstrong\u003eSAVER \u003c\/strong\u003ehave known each other for years, and have been active in the Oslo underground music scene in various bands... some of them made it to Roadburn and Psycho Las Vegas (Tombstones), while others toured squats and small venues across Europe, all of them contributed to their member's experience and the serenity which SAVER exudes. This split 10” sees each of these artists present a song from the respective other artist’s back catalogue, finding a transcendental middle ground between the other artist's musical realm and their own sphere.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eCommenting on the beginning of her own musical career, Frøkedal notes: “Because everyone has a computer these days there’s no limit to how many times you can multi-track. I [was] sick of that. I hoped to go the other way – to remove as much as I could and be left with a beating heart.” Remarkably, Sâver have done just that in their execution of Frøkedal's track «Shot-Put», turning down their guitars to give space to clean vocals and laying bare the synths that are an integral part of their sound. Driven by deep drones and soft layered vocals, the Homeric simile of a meeting at the shot put becomes even more compelling, turning the folksy original into a haunting ambient rock opus. In turn, Frøkedal lays bare the heart of «I Vanish» from Sâver’s debut LP in a gently swaying but bewitching folk version.
